G.O's INTERVIEW
PART 1
—– At the time of your debut and now, in what part do you feel that you yourself have changed?
G.O: If you’re talking about changed appearance, it should be me (laugh). My moustache is gone and my hairstyle changed frequently. At the beginning I was a bit like an uncle, but I think now I exude a trendy quality considerably. How is it? (Laugh)
—– Among the members other than yourself, who is the one you think that “has changed the most!”?
G.O: The one who has changed the most is Cheondoong. Not only rapping but lately he’s also polishing his vocal ability and showing a new charm. Moreover because he’s doing weight training, his body has become toned.
—– G.O is paying attention to his skin care very much. Even in the ODINA Vol.05 interview he gave us “cleansing products and basic cosmetics” as the first example of “the necessary thing in your life in Japan.”
G.O: To maintain a beautiful skin I do my cleansing carefully. This is the most important!
—– Cheondoong and G.O released their own song in “BLAQ STYLE 3D Edition” that was released in Korea on February 22nd.
G.O: At the time of debut many people called me “moustache idol,” but from now on I want to be called “producing-dol.” Cheondoong and I have also been interested in composing from the beginning, so this time we were blessed with a very good opportunity. Mir also wrote the rap of “You’re My +,” but from now on he plans to compose songs as well. We want to become “producing-dols” who personally sing and produce our albums.
—– Please tell us your favorite song in “BLAQ STYLE.”
G.O: For me it’s “Cry.” We are having a good command of various tones of voice in 1 song. I can say that it’s a song containing our voices the most.
—– Who is the member that “talks” the most? What would you do when you cannot settle an opinion?
G.O: For example, if our opinions differ when we are jointly contributing ideas for our album, we will also say that “we will certainly adopt that idea next time, so please hand it over this time.”
PART 2
—– Then go on to G.O. As you are called the members’ best love master, I think that you seem to have a thorough knowledge of ways of pleasing girls. As being that kind of you please teach us the “golden rule” of love.
G.O: First of all the most important thing is, having no tactics. Not sparing your feelings, you have to say that you like her if you like her. However, for the opposite side to like you more, keeping a distance on purpose, getting closer, and again keeping a distance…… Such tactics are unnecessary in love! I’m thinking that only by expressing your unconditional love you can please the opposite side. The next is no lying. Lies are things that will absolutely be exposed sometime. No matter it’s when you are with your girlfriend or hanging out noisily together with your friends, you always for sure show the same appearance, I think the opposite side can trust you. Lastly let’s talk about a very important thing (laugh). That is, you must give her presents generously. I’m the type that gives practical presents, so I give my girlfriend wallets and bags that she likes, accessories, and so on a lot. Especially when we had a quarrel, to settle I would give her 3 or 4 presents (laugh). Because of that my girlfriend’s anger has ended before.
—– So far the most expensive thing among your presents is?
G.O: About 200,000 won. But the price is not important. I buy with the feeling of “this, seems to suit my girlfriend,” so when I see her happy face, I’m happy even if my burden is somewhat big.
—- I see. Then again I’ll ask all of you. If you could take the place of a member besides yourself for one day, who would you be and what would you do?
G.O: I’d be Cheondung and want to eat a lot of delicious food at midnight.
—– By the way, what was your dream when you were a kid? If you didn’t become an idol, at this time, what do you think you are doing?
G.O: When I was a kid I wanted to be a police officer. If now I was not an idol, I think I’d be a computer programmer.
PART 3
—– In “Your Luv” you first challenged lyrics in Japanese, so did your recording proceed smoothly? As the pronunciation is difficult are there phrases that you redid?
G.O: The pronunciation was difficult, but I was also worried if I could convey my feelings well. For example, phrases like “my precious”……
—— During recording, is there any jinx (T/N: Jinx is the direct translation, but here the interviewer means “trick”) of your own like “if I do this I can sing well”?
G.O: Somehow when I put my hands in my pocket, I can sing well. Maybe it’s because I can relax.
—– During your CD jacket photoshooting and MV filming, was there any happening?
G.O: There was no happening, but because it was my first time filming in Japan, all incidents were impressive.
G.O: The color is different from the MVs that have been released in Korea so far, so it was new to me.
– You’ve come to Japan many times so far, but what is the biggest culture shock that you’ve felt in Japan?
G.O: I was surprised that the awareness of manner is high. It’s comfortable that the streets are clean.
—– In the last interview (published in ODINA Vol.05) about “Your Luv” you said, “We are singing with hopes included to brighten up a man’s attachment,” but conversely what do you think about girls with strong attachment?
G.O: I don’t care about it that much. But I prefer someone who is honest and easy to understand than someone who persists.
—– Please reveal the newest version of your “ideal female type”!
G.O: It’s the type of honest girls who don’t pretend to be cute.
—– Who exactly do you think is the most popular in Japan?
G.O: Are the people who look like a prince that jumped out from comics popular in Japan? Then Cheondung seems to be very popular.
—– Was there any concrete advice from RAIN about your activities in Japan?
G.O: Always perform sincerely. He told us that if we are doing like that, everyone in Japan will definitely cheer for us and give us a lot of love.
—– I think that you usually can’t talk easily, but is there anything you want to say to RAIN (Jung Jihoon)?
G.O: Jihoon hyung also tells us similar things a lot. Something like “you guys never send me text messages, never call me, so do you feel uncomfortable around me?” (laugh) But I’m saying it here only. It doesn’t mean that for sure Jihoon hyung would carelessly contact us in this way. If you see the strict appearance he has when he’s instructing us in dancing and singing, because of this you won’t be able to send him emails carelessly (laugh). However, I think I’ll contact him more from now on!
—– In Japan you are being called “the K-POP last MONSTER,” so please try to give an example of “the MONSTER place inside me” of each of you.
G.O: It’s my delicacy. I’m the type that pays attention with scrupulous care to everything like clothing, expression and musical interval. However, when I’m extremely too concerned about them, on the contrary it’s not even becoming any help, and a situation has also got worse instead. Even I feel such a point is MONSTERly myself.
—– At last, please give a message to your fans in Japan!
G.O: Even in Japan we will again appeal to you with the strong image of a vampire.
